Queenside is made by JLUD Designs, LLC. This page says what we collect, why, and where it goes. The short version: we keep as little as we can, we do not sell any of it, and there are no ads.
Signing in takes an email address and a one-time code. Your account stores what you make in the app: recorded games, game analysis, lesson history, and your membership status. That data lives with our database provider, Supabase, and is only readable by you and by us.
During a coaching session your microphone audio streams to OpenAI, the AI provider that powers the coach's voice and hearing. We do not keep your audio. Transcripts and lesson notes are saved to your account so you and your coach can pick up where you left off. We also meter how many coaching minutes you use, since plans include a monthly allowance.
To keep the free sample fair, we use basic device identifiers and IP addresses to limit how often new free sessions can be started from the same place.
Recording a real board sends board images to AI providers through our own servers so the position can be read. The camera runs only while you are recording or using gesture mode, and nothing streams when you are not.
When you finish a recorded game while signed in, Queenside keeps a technical log of that session to make board reading more accurate for everyone. It includes small cropped images of the board surface itself, never the room around it, along with the moves and timing data. These logs are tied to your account and are deleted with it.
Payments are handled entirely by Stripe. Your card number never touches our servers. We store what Stripe tells us: whether your membership is active, when it renews, and an anonymous customer reference.
Preferences like theme, board style, and sound live in your browser's local storage, not on our servers. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party analytics trackers. To understand what gets used, we count anonymous product events ourselves (a page viewed, a game finished) tied to a random install id — never your email, never sold, never shared.
Email us and we will delete your account and everything in it. Subscription records required for accounting stay with Stripe per their retention rules.
Queenside is not directed at children under 13.
